Humanity is not dead: Dead Poets Society Movie Review
Dead Poets Society is a masterpiece, it depicts lot of social issues that people are paying little attention to. Director Peter Weir brought out the best of the actors, the rawness and authenticity of the acting gives emotional appeal to the film. Actor Robin Williams was effective in portraying his role, he really did an impact in delivering the message of the movie. Story wise, the movie gave so much of learning and inspiration.
There are so many things to applause about the story of this movie. First, the movie screams for attention to the parents. The teenagers are barely making their decision for they are controlled by their parents. It called out parents, for them to realize that you don't own your children, they have a life of their own and you should never be the one to draw their destiny. It is your responsibility to guide them, but to push them to do things they didn't want is not something you should be doing. Second is that, learning is not only found within the four walls of a classroom, there's more to life more than having academic excellence. Of course it's great to be academically competent but to spend all your life on it? I guess not. The teenagers also made a note when it comes to their playfulness, it showed that you could have fun while aspiring of making great things. Not just because you are loud or make everything seem easier, doesn't mean that you're not good or your mind doesn't hold big ideas. Third, the Professor Keating also made an impact of using his position as an educator to open the mind of his students, it was very nice to know someone who doesn't only value the students based on their academic performance. He made learning much more interesting for his students, he educated them more than what the books says. Lastly, the movie just left me inspired in so many levels. I wanted to experience life more, I want to do new things. We're living here not to be praised by everyone but to have an impact while we're still here. Do your thing, make yourself happy, because no matter how long our journey in this life would be, it all boils down to one thing, and that was to be happy. I definitely recommend everyone to watch this film, it was one of the best movies that I have ever watched and it touched a string in my heart.
